One of the most important things I have learned from the literature we have read is women have came along way from the 19th century. People have many layers, from the literature peaces I have read  I learned what a trifle was and what a necrophiliac means

Week 14: modern day women

Today the role of modern women has changed a lot. Women now hold jobs in the work force as well as in there house holds.

week 13 plot of your fav movie

My favorite movie is Friday, it's main characters are Craig and Smokey who are two guys in Los Angeles hanging out on their porch on a Friday afternoon, smoking and looking for something to do. They encounter neighbors and other friends over the course of the day and night. Their ensuing antics, make up the rest of the movie.

week 13: setting of your fav TV show

One of my favorite TV shows a Netflix original is Orange is the New Black. The setting of this hit TV show is an all female prison. Most of the story telling and main events take place here. The kitchen, bed cells, and the court yard are some of the places were scenes were events also occur.

week 11: what I think about poetry

I enjoyed poetry a lot when I was younger, in fact I recited poetry at a poetry completion when I was I elementary school. But as I have gotten older I have read more complex poetry and realized that poetry is deeper than it seems and it may take numerous times to grasp what the poet is actually saying.

This song is by the famous group One direction, it contains a metaphor. Harry is singing this part.

Rashann Hatcher
In the poem "Loveless" from the Final Fantasy series it says "Even if the morrow is full of promises nothing shall forestall my return" meaning that nothing is going to stop him from returning even if he is love his dream he will return.

 :I think this quotes means promises dont mean anything to him

The song says "It's been a long day without you, my friend", someone could say that the person or thing could be someone far far away. A person may say this verse "I know we loved to hit the road and laugh, But something told me that it wouldn't last" could mean they ended the friendship on a bad note. Things could have so many different meanings but when a picture is painted like the movie things are clear.

week 10: why images are important

Images can make your text come to life. Text do not come with vivid pictures so its up to the author to create one for the reader.

week nine: the use of mythological elements in poems

In the poem "Titanic" by David Slavitt, archetypes are used. "And the world, shocked, mourns, as it ought to do and almost never does" (822). David uses death and the meaning of existence. "We all go: only a few, first-class" (822).

In Javorous Brown blog post he reveals his favorite song is Titanium by David Guetta ft. Sia. He states the theme of Titanium is Titanium  whatever you go through and endure can't hurt you it only makes you better. By believing in this will teach you how to deal with life.

workshop 8 fav poem theme

My favorite poem is Acquainted with the night by Robert Frost. The theme of Frost poem is isolation or loneliness. In the stanza below you can see frost portraying isolation to the reader.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.

I have passed by the watchman on his beat

And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

A thematic generalization about my life so far could be something like this: There is beauty behind the madness.

week 7 theme of my favorite movie

One of my favorite movies thus far is wolf of wall street. It features an a-list cast and great visuals. The movie is quite long, but  its not hard to find the theme of the movie. The moral lesson I received from watching this film is people who lack resources (connections, education, social graces, good looks etc.) can achieve wild success.

Drummer Boy wears a necklace, his brother has the opposite piece of the necklace. Drummer Boy necklace is the yin symbol and his brother wears the yang symbol. "The symbol its self describes how opposites or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected with each other. To me and my brother we may be different at times but we will always be one," said Drummer Boy.

Datarius Hadley often wears a gold chain given to him by his grandmother. " It symbolizes commitment since when I wear it I sense that I can do anything I put my brain to," said Hadley. Gold can often symbolize wealth and luxury but its good to see that to Hadley, his gold chain symbolizes commitment.

Workshop six: Something I often wear and what it symbolize

I often wear ripped jeans. In my opinion ripped jeans symbolize a misfit. I have a pair of black ripped jeans which are my favorite pair of jeans. The color black symbolize a lot, but I'm associating the color black with my ripped jeans. Therefore my black ripped jeans symbolize style, mystery, and sexuality.

In the story "Geese" the setting of the story is based in  Japan. Dina who is a native in Baltimore wants to moved to Japan because she wants to make a lot of money. said Jay P. I also was aware that the setting of Geese was in Japan, however I thought most of the setting was in Tokyo because Dina wanted to stay in the  city.

"The setting in Hemingway's "Soldier's Home", is in Oklahoma. It takes place in the summer of 1919. Most of the story takes place in the protagonist, Krebs's home, who was returned home from France and Germany from fighting in WWI", said Addison. In the begging of the story in mention Kansas but the story isn't set in Kansas its set in Oklahoma so I agree with Addison's statement.

week five setting of Packer story

In Packer's story Dina lives in Baltimore. However Dina moves to Tokyo where most of the story takes place. Therefore Tokyo is the setting as well as the apartment Dina ends up living in with other people.

 I read Jay Styles blog post and she stated that, In the story " A rose for Emily"  by William Faulkner, Miss Emily had a negro slave named Tobe. It may be possible that William Faulkner himself and his family owned slaves because William Faulkner grew up in the southern state of Mississippi and owned farm land. I find it interesting  to know that this genus author could own slaves.

I also read Jay P blog post and he read a "Sorrowful Women" Jaylen said. In my story which is about a woman who is a housewife. The author who is now a full time writer, writes her story based on her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother was a housewife who cooked and cleaned similar to the woman in "A Sorrowful Woman". Many times authors use events that happen in there life first hand. This author witnessed her mother and grandmother live there life as a house wife.

week 04 blog post #1

Frost has many battles to face in his life. Frost was surrounded by mental illness, alcoholics and family deaths. Acquainted with the night is commonly understood to be a description of the narrators battles with depression.

I read Monica's blog post about her doc 1 she is writing about "A Sorrowful Women". Monica stated "The husband begin take care of her and  begins to do everything she asks. but the woman is still unsatisfied. The woman is depressed that she cannot find a role that she can be content with".  I also read Jay P blog who read the same piece of work as Monica " A Sorrowful Women". In contrast to Monica, Jay P realized "the story made it clear that men were the prime providers that paid the bills, and made the money. I also learned that some people you can never satisfy. You can give many people different opinions, but that will never become happy to any of the choices".

What I have lerned about my story

I read Acquainted with the Night. I have learned how an offer can use symbols and symbolism thought a poem to create different meanings. Acquainted with the Night is told though a speaker who is a thief in the night. The speaker is lonely.

Fav Movie

I honestly don't have a favorite movie, I'm not the type of person who can sit down and watch the same old movie over and over again. However a movie that will always stick with me, a move I can recite lines from is Django Unchained. This movie stars a -list actors such as Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson.  Django is a black slave who teams up with a bounty hunter posing as a dentist to find his wife. Django's wife is a house slave who works for Calvin Candie the owner of Candyland Plantation. Calvin Candie is a cruel slave owner who makes his slave fight Mandingo. This movie is funny, and keeps you on your feet.

Intorduction

Hey there, im Jayla Perkins and this is my second time taking Professor Hamon's class. I hope to learn and create new relationships with people in this class. I'm 18 years old, laid back and full of spunk. I enjoy laughing, watching Netflix, working out, and smoking weed. My first semester at Middle Georgia didn't play out as well as I intended to me and my roommate didn't click. This semester I hope to improve my grades, connect with my roommate, as well as attend more campus events. I look forward to taking this class with everyone.
